All change for online peer review
Our manuscript submission and peer review workflow solutions have a new name, a new reporting tool and a new interface for Chinese language publishers.
ScholarOne rebranding reflects expanding suite of digital workflow offerings
Manuscript Central, Abstract Central, and Proceedings Central are adopting the ScholarOne brand to become ScholarOne Manuscripts, ScholarOne Abstracts, and ScholarOne Proceedings. This change is to accommodate our expanding suite of products and creative toolsets that span the entire research process — from scientific discovery to authoring and collaboration. Our solutions continue to be developed to meet our markets' broadening requirements and made available as part of the ScholarOne platform, which is a single, centralized digital environment that enables resource management across an entire organization.
Forthcoming modules to be added to the platform are ScholarOne Books and ScholarOne Production. ScholarOne Books enables centralized and transparent book publishing from acquisition and content approval through content review, assembly, and release to production. ScholarOne Production, also a centralized workflow system, enables multiple journals to manage all production steps simultaneously for transparent process management across an organization.
New Cognos reporting tool
The powerful Cognos reporting tool built into ScholarOne Manuscripts enables publishing professionals to extract vital information about journals to create a range of standard or ad-hoc reports. Business and performance metrics—such as manuscript accept/reject percentages and reviewer/editor performance—can be analyzed to deliver a better understanding of a journal's publication process and fiscal health. The new functionality also enables the choice to schedule automatically delivered reports, insert report calculations, and expedite pivot reports.
New interface for Chinese language publishers
According to Thomson Reuters National Science Indicators 1981-2007, the annual rate of growth in published Chinese papers has averaged 17 per cent since 1981 while—in the last five years—the average growth in research output worldwide has only been four per cent. To ease the publishing process for the world's fastest growing research community, the ScholarOne Manuscripts interface is now available in Simplified Chinese, enabling web-based peer review and online submission of manuscripts to Chinese scholarly publishers through a Simplified Chinese language interface.
ScholarOne Manuscripts automates the journal manuscript submission process and enables easy administration, editing and review of manuscripts. It balances a journal's need for comprehensive data-gathering with an author's desire to publish quickly; it has been adopted by more than 3,000 of the world's leading scholarly peer reviewed journals and in 2008 managed the peer review of over 1.1 million manuscripts.
The new easy-to-use interface, delivered in English and Simplified Chinese, equips publishers with:
- The most easily configurable submission and peer review system available in the market
- Increased versatility and enhanced collaboration functionality
- Support for Chinese date-and-time format
- Support for third-party Baidu and Google China search engines
- Local product support and implementation from a seasoned service team
