THOMSON SCIENTIFIC LAUNCHES LIQUENT INSIGHT PUBLISHER TO ENABLE EFFICIENT SUBMISSION PUBLISHING

Philadelphia, PA, USA - London, UK - January 20, 2006 — Pharmaceutical companies have a new tool to enhance their efficiency, reduce time to market, and ensure they are compliant with the latest regulatory guidelines and specifications. Liquent InSight® Publisher — the latest addition to the Liquent InSight suite — simplifies, automates, and accelerates the entire regulatory publishing process. It enables life sciences companies to quickly and easily create, review, and amend regulatory dossiers and submit them for market approval.

Since the early 1990s, there has been an increasing focus on moving many of the regulatory review aspects of new drug approvals to an electronic medium. The Electronic Common Technical Document (eCTD) is a standard that helps regulatory authorities to evaluate drug submissions quickly and accurately, and to approve pharmaceutical products that could save lives. Today, many companies are beginning to consider the business process implications of implementing the eCTD. Over three-quarters of the companies recently surveyed in the 2005 Liquent Regulatory Trends Survey indicated that they intend to implement the use of the eCTD format in the next two years.

InSight Publisher enables users to quickly create all the necessary components for a compliant eCTD submission and easily manage subsequent amendments, supplements and variations to submissions. It makes it simple to create multiple submissions in multiple regions using comprehensive, built-in templates, and to automatically transform documents in multiple file formats into enhanced PDFs with bookmarks and hyperlinks.

Jim Nichols, Liquent's Vice President of Product Strategy and Marketing said, “Life Sciences organizations are looking for integrated solutions that can effectively manage product registrations, dossiers and documents over time. The Liquent InSight suite helps these organizations to turn new regulations into an opportunity and position themselves for successful product development, launch and maintenance.”

As part of the launch program for InSight Publisher, current CoreDossier® and EZsubs® clients have been offered InSight Publisher as part of their maintenance program. Several companies have taken up the offer to date.

A six city road show to support the launch of InSight Publisher commences in Princeton, USA on Feb 14 before moving to Chicago, San Francisco, London, Amsterdam and Basel over a two week period. The solution will also be showcased at the DIA Electronic Document Management Conference, February 7 to 10 in Philadelphia, USA.
