Nominate a Quantum2 InfoStar

October 2007

InfoStars are information professionals who are inspiring examples of creativity and innovation. Their stories provide insight into their professional achievements and leadership qualities, and enable them to serve as role models for others. Nominations are now open for the InfoStar awards to be announced at the forthcoming Online Information and ALA Midwinter meetings.

The concept of InfoStars is part of the Quantum2 Leadership Development program initiated by Dialog in the 1990s. Through Dialog's alignment with Thomson Scientific, Quantum2 continues to grow and is now a Thomson Scientific-wide initiative to support information professionals. A significant part of this program is the selection each year of three to five InfoStars, who are honored in awards ceremonies during ALA Midwinter, SLA, and Online.

InfoStars are enthusiastic and positive about value and the future of information services, regardless of their level within the organization. They can be staff level librarians who inspire their colleagues, information center managers who act as catalysts for change, or senior managers in the organization who champion and support the information center. Their key characteristics are:

  • Strategic involvement in the organization
  • Proactive relationship building
  • Innovative information services
  • Continuous change and development

Thomson Scientific is now seeking nominations for the InfoStar awards to be announced at the London Online Information show in December, and at the ALA Midwinter meeting in January 2008.
